After her sister Nena dies, Xiomara struggles to keep moving through a life that already feels stalled. Nearly thirty, she shares a small Washington Heights apartment with her Puerto Rican mother and works two low-paying jobs while wondering whether her ambitions as a singer and actress still have a future.

An unexpected audition with director Manny Santos reopens the possibility of Broadway. At the same time, a new coworker at the print shop begins to draw her out of her emotional numbness. Neither connection makes the choices ahead simple.

Natalie Guerrero follows an Afro-Latina performer confronting grief, desire, family expectations, and the power structures of an industry she wants to enter. As opportunity brings compromises into view, Xiomara must decide what she can afford to sacrifice and how to pursue a different life without abandoning the parts of herself that matter.
